APP ALTERNATIVE ENERGY The world needs all the energy we can develop, in every potential form. While finding new ways, to maximize the use of traditional resources such as oil and natural gas, we also depend on technology to produce emerging sources of energy. ![]() BIO-DIESEL Biodiesel is a renewable source of fuel for diesel engines derived from vegetable oils or animal fats, that is biodegradable, essentially free of sulfur and aromatics, and can be used with little or no modification to your current diesel engine. Biodiesel can be used pure, or blended as any percentage along with petroleum diesel. This percentage is displayed in the form of BXX, where 'XX' is the percentage of biodiesel in the blend. For example, a B20 blend would be a 20% biodiesel, 80% petroleum blend. In the State of Washington, there is a mandate that all diesel consumed be an aggregate of 2% biodiesel by November 30, 2008. This means that the State will monitor business state consumption through business tax returns to ensure we all are meeting this mandate. APP offers all blends of biodiesel utilizing feedstock via bulk delivery service or retail locations to help meet this mandate. APP Retail Locations offering Biodiesel Fife CFN® Cardlock-70th Street Sumner - Mustard Seed Market & Deli Shell Tacoma CFN Cardlock® - Port of Tacoma - (Discontinued effective June 1, 2009) You can purchase biodiesel using an APP Fleetwide card or Visa/MC. Other Advantages of Biodiesel Besides the environmental and local economic advantages, biodiesel has a higher cetane number than conventional diesel, a safer flash point and also provides increased lubricity. The lubricity is especially important when blended with the ultra-low sulfur diesel because the new engines run better with this additional lubrication. APP supplies ValvTect Fuel Additives which are designed to provide peak performance, reduce maintenance, extend engine life and improve air quality by reducing exhaust emissions. ValvTect products are formulated to meet petroleum industry and engine manufacturer specifications. Performance claims are documented by laboratory and field testing protocols established by engine manufacturers, ASTM, SAE, NCWM, EMA, TMC, and other appropriate organizations. Use of ValvTect products are designed to provide peak performance, reduce maintenance, extend engine life and improve air quality by reducing exhaust emissions.
