Propane is a hydrocarbon, sometimes referred to as liquefied petroleum gas, LP-Gas, or LPG. It is produced from both natural gas processing and crude oil refining.
Propane has many advantages over other forms of energy. In the home, these advantages are most evident.
Propane is safe, efficient, clean, environmentally friendly, convenient, and locally produced.
Safe
Propane is one of the safest energy sources available.
All propane equipment and appliances are manufactured to rigorous safety standards. The propane
industry, in conjunction with the NFPA, have developed codes and standards with every aspect of storage, installation, and tank filling to ensure that the use and delivery are worry-free.
New propane cylinders are equipped with safety devices such as the Overfilling Prevention Device (OPD) that shuts
off the filling process when the tank reaches 80% of its liquid capacity. This allows room for safe expansion caused by temperature variations. In addition, shut-off valves
function automatically if the fuel line ruptures.
All APP Propane drivers are trained in all aspects of the installation, delivery, and
maintenance, and our regular inspections ensure all safety standards are met.
Efficient
On average, propane is less expensive than electricity.
Propane water heaters are up to one-third* less expensive to operate than electric heaters, so homeowners can significantly lower their heating bill with propane.
Propane offers lower operating costs, quicker recovery rates, more accurate temperature adjustment.
Clean and Environmentally Friendly
The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendment and the National Energy Policy Act of 1992 named propane as a one of the cleanest burning of all fossil fuels.
Propane gas fireplaces emit 40 times fewer emissions than wood burning units.
Propane gas is nontoxic, slightly soluble, and biodegrades. The EPA doesn't
even regulate the placement of propane tanks because it is not harmful to soil
or water in the event of accidental spillage.
Convenient
Propane provides instant heat to your home or your appliances.
Many propane appliances operate independent of electrical power.
Our delivery plans offer both the call-in and automatic delivery options, and our payment options and plans ensure your purchase is worry-free.
Locally Produced
About 97% of the US propane supply is produced in North America, and about 88% of that is produced in the US.
